Women in bikinis stroll past fellow tourists in burkinis - also known as hasemas - on the beach at Alanya on the gulf of Antalya, Turkey. The upmarket Bera Alanya hotel in the resort is aimed at conservative middle class Muslims who prefer women to cover up in public. The Turkish constitution prevents women covering their heads in official buildings - including universities - but the right-wing, religiously conservative AK party is keen to overturn this law. The party has repeatedly clashed with the country's military leaders who regard themselves as protectors of the secular constitution.
